What's New?
1. Our practice is growing:
Despite our disastrous economy, this innovative direct practice continues to grow. I'm impressed that the people joining are NOT the "rich" or "demanding" types that you might assume would seek this model. They are a combination of blue-collar and white-collar workers, who are simply nice people that understand the value of having a doctor who hears their concerns, and gives them the time, attention and respect that they need.
2. Our weekly column in the Andover Townsman:
I'm publishing a brief medical column in each weekly edition of the Andover Townsman, called "Medical Connection". I've been doing this since last November, touching on a wide range of topics including the health benefits of red wine, COPD, steroids, carbon monoxide, cholesterol, aplastic anemia, psoriasis, surveillance colonoscopy, HIV/AIDS, thyroid nodules, and nurse practitioners. You will see a wide range of articles coming.
3. Alternative Therapies:
Almost everyone has some interest in Alternative Therapies, particularly if they have an illness that is not easily cured by traditional Western medicine. I've taken a course and been educating myself in Eastern and Alternative Therapies, so I'll be better prepared to meet your needs and coordinate your care.
4. Administrative Assistant:
Sue Sinacore is running our front office, and getting everything more organized. You will enjoy meeting her -- Sue is wonderfully friendly, cheerful and personable. Everyone has found her exceedingly helpful, and very efficient at finding information and solving problems.
5. Hospitalist at LGH:
I'm temporarily working as a Hospitalist at Lawrence General on Wednesdays and Thursdays -- but rest assured that I am still available to see you when you need attention. What's a Hospitalist? It’s an internal medicine physician who takes care of people during their inpatient stay when admitted to a hospital, coordinating their complex care with multiple specialists, and then sending them back to their primary care doctor when discharged. It has been a great opportunity to sharpen my Critical Care and other inpatient skills. Have you seeing the television program "House"? Dr. House is a hospitalist, but I assure you I am not that ‘rough around the edges’, and somehow LGH is not quite as dramatic as a Hollywood hospital.
6. Parking:
For your convenience we have made two parking spaces available behind the house, but suggest you only use them if you're comfortable turning your car around in tight spaces. Two-hour parking is readily available on our street, usually right out front. We plan to repave the driveway, improve the walkway, paint the trim and upgrade the landscaping soon!
