Integrative Healing
Dr. Bill Daly is a lifelong innovator and early adopter of leading-edge concepts. He has always practiced what is now termed "Lifestyle Medicine", first recommending appropriate nutritional and other lifestyle improvements before medication or surgery for our most frequent medical conditions, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, back pain, stress and anxiety. Lifestyle improvements are frequently far more effective, less expensive and less risky than medications or surgery, as demonstrated by many studies. If people do need medication, he monitors each carefully for adverse effects or injuries which might occur with conventional prescriptions.
Dr. Daly always first recommends and discusses conventional "current standards of care" for any condition, and also provides clear understanding of the associated risks and benefits of any intervention. The benefits of any treatment include the likelihood of healing, and the risks include adverse effects or harm that might be reasonably anticipated, as well as associated costs.
His personal experience with cancers and disabling illness spurred him to seek effective and appropriate complementary interventions for some of our most devastating diseases such as cancer, neurologic or degenerative diseases, and even stress and anxiety – frequently with positive results, but dependent on the receptivity of the patient. He commonly prescribes dramatic nutritional and lifestyle improvements, particularly plant-based diets, which can enhance or sometimes replace conventional therapies if the individual is willing to embrace such options. He also has a solid understanding of the benefits available through many Complementary and Alternative Modalities (CAM) of healing, after study and experience in these interventions. He frequently prescribes meditation, counseling, stress management, enlightening self-help literature, exercise programs, yoga, and participation in groups. When appropriate he discusses energy healing techniques such as acupuncture, Reiki, Tuina, therapeutic massage, Tong Ren healing and others.
Dr. Daly devotes much of his time and energy to communicating the science behind Complementary and Alternative Modalities. He points out that Quantum physicists have "rediscovered" the ancient Eastern understanding that all of reality originates from a vast underlying field of energy. Albert Einstein and many others were frustrated that our Newtonian construct of physical reality does not account for our everyday experiences, including gravity, thought, emotion, imagination and intuition. In the last decade such physicists have developed an expanded paradigm of the physical reality in which we live, of course acknowledging all established observations in Western science, but also providing a logical and mathematically-precise framework accounting for our intellectual, emotional and energetic experiences. These all exist at energies and frequencies far beyond the speed of light, as demonstrated by experimental evidence from frontier scientists.
Western physicians understand that the health of each organ in our body requires a supply of life-sustaining energies, in the forms of blood flow, oxygen, sugar, proteins, neuronal and hormonal support and genetic control. If the supply of an energy is blocked, the organ becomes diseased or dies. This is all logical in the context of our three-dimensional, five-sensory framework of reality. But we are unable to understand or cure many of our most common and most serious diseases -- our Western medications and procedures may temporarily abate symptoms, but rarely provide complete healing, because we rarely understand or address the root cause of the dis-ease.
For thousands of years, Eastern cultures have understood that our body's health also depends on another life-sustaining energy which they call Chi or qi, flowing through the acupuncture meridians and chakra system, and blockage of this flow also causes disease in the affected part of the body. These channels are not visible at surgery or autopsy, specifically because they are not observable in the limited wavelengths of light energy we can observe or measure, but rather operate at frequencies and velocities far beyond the speed of light. Quantum physics allows us to begin to understand this expanded framework of the physical reality in which we live, and finally account for our everyday experiences such as gravity, thought, emotion, intuition and imagination. These insights provide the foundation for the evolving science of consciousness.
In the 1980s Dr. Daly was a speaker for the Beyond War movement, and a member of Physicians for Social Responsibility / International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War. He has been elected or appointed to leadership positions in conventional medicine, and more recently in the world of Integrative Health. He served as President of the International Tong Ren Healing Foundation, and continues to serve as the Western Medical Advisor to that worldwide organization. He was an active participant in the Collaborative Medicine Working Group at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), a group of physicians and health practitioners centered around the Boston area. That group outgrew the space available, and he now serves on the Board of Directors of the Integrative Health Collaborative, which is the next evolution of that original group. He has delivered formal presentations to doctors and other health practitioners at MGH, the Fenway Community Health System and the Integrative Health Collaborative, and is willing and able to speak to practitioners and patients who are interested in this evolving paradigm of health. His purpose is to improve the care and health we offer to our patients, our families, ourselves and communities. His vision is to nurture our consciousness into a new framework of providing for health, founded on collaboration amongst appropriate modalities, practitioners, and patients. |
